Dr. Ubaldo M. Córdova-Figueroa is the founder and CEO of Acerola Strategies LLC, bringing a unique blend of scientific and engineering expertise and strategic leadership to the firm. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez (UPRM), and advanced degrees, including a Master's and Doctorate in Chemical Engineering, from the California Institute of Technology.

Since 2008, Dr. Córdova-Figueroa has served as a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Bioengineering Graduate Program at UPRM, where his achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and research grants. He co-founded the Research Academy for Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows at UPRM, aimed at enhancing R&D capabilities and professional development.

Dr. Córdova-Figueroa also co-founded the UPRM Entrepreneurship Network, significantly contributing to the development of a startup and innovation ecosystem in Puerto Rico. This network has facilitated the launch of numerous businesses, demonstrating his ability to drive economic growth.

In administrative roles at the UPR, including as Special Assistant to the Chancellor of UPRM and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research at the system level, Dr. Córdova-Figueroa implemented strategies for academic and administrative transformation. These initiatives have led to significant improvements in administrative processes and academic offerings, as well as new projects for research and innovation.

Dr. Córdova-Figueroa's international work includes training in agile collaboration methods in Ecuador, promoting economic development through strategic conversations and collaborations.

As a member of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust's Board of Trustees and the Puerto Rico Sustainable Development Council, he contributes to strategic planning and advocacy for science and technology's role in sustainable economic development.
